Category: Backgammon

As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to shift your checkers carefully around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move his checkers, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely stop any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to block the activity of the opponent, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of winning, but the Back Game plan uses alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.

The aim of a Backgammon game is to shift your pieces around the game board and get those pieces off the game board quicker than your opposing player who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a round in Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you will be able to shift your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing a pair of dice, and the way you shift your chips are determined by your overall gambling strategies. Enthusiasts use different strategies in the differing parts of a match dependent on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The aim of the Running Game tactic is to entice all your pieces into your inner board and get them off as quick as you can. This plan focuses on the speed of advancing your checkers with absolutely no time spent to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The best time to use this plan is when you think you might be able to shift your own pieces quicker than your opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary aim of the blocking strategy, by its title, is to stop the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not fretting about moving your checkers quickly. After you’ve created the blockade for your opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other pieces swiftly off the board. You should also have a good strategy when to extract and shift the checkers that you employed for blocking. The game gets interesting when the opposition utilizes the same blocking tactic.

In astonishingly general terms, there are 3 fundamental game plans used. You need to be agile enough to hop between techniques quickly as the action of the match unfolds.

The Blockade

This is comprised of creating a 6-deep wall of pieces, or at a minimum as deep as you are able to manage, to lock in the competitor’s checkers that are located on your 1-point. This is considered to be the most suitable strategy at the start of the match. You can assemble the wall anywhere inbetween your eleven-point and your 2-point and then shuffle it into your home board as the match progresses.

The Blitz

This involves closing your home board as quickly as as you can while keeping your challenger on the bar. i.e., if your opposer tosses an early 2 and shifts one checker from your 1-point to your three-point and you then toss a five-five, you can play 6/1 6/1 eight/three 8/3. Your challenger is now in big-time difficulty since they have two pieces on the bar and you have locked half your inner board!

The Backgame

This plan is where you have 2 or higher checkers in your opponent’s inner board. (An anchor is a position occupied by at a minimum 2 of your checkers.) It would be used when you are significantly behind as this action much improves your opportunities. The better locations for anchor spots are near your opponent’s smaller points and either on abutting points or with one point in between. Timing is essential for a competent backgame: at the end of the day, there is no point having 2 nice anchors and a solid wall in your own inner board if you are then required to break down this right away, while your opposer is getting their checkers home, taking into account that you do not have other additional checkers to move! In this situation, it’s more tolerable to have checkers on the bar so that you are able to preserve your position up until your opposer gives you an opportunity to hit, so it will be a good idea to attempt and get your competitor to get them in this case!

The Backgame

This tactic is where you have 2 or more pieces in your opponent’s home board. (An anchor is a point occupied by at a minimum 2 of your checkers.) It must be used when you are extremely behind as this plan greatly improves your chances. The best locations for anchors are near your competitor’s smaller points and also on adjacent points or with a single point in between. Timing is crucial for an effective backgame: after all, there is no point having 2 nice anchor spots and a solid wall in your own home board if you are then required to break down this right away, while your challenger is getting their checkers home, because you don’t have other extra pieces to move! In this case, it’s more tolerable to have pieces on the bar so that you might maintain your position until your opponent gives you a chance to hit, so it may be a wonderful idea to try and get your opposer to get them in this case!

Timing is important for a competent backgame: besides, there is no point having two nice anchors and a complete wall in your own home board if you are then required to break up this right away, while your competitor is getting their pieces home, seeing that you do not have other additional pieces to shift!
